It's funny how something can feel great at the time and then leave you suffering. SUFFERING HORRIBLY.

So I was like, 'hell yeah I'll start running after work, it'll be great' except apparently I really don't know how to stretch right, 'cause my entire upper body is made of pain now, and thanks to that I got precisely two hours of sleep despite being completely exhausted beyond all reason.

Decidedly not a groovy turn of events.

Next step: Figure out the right upper body stretches to do, THEN do more running. Also today is going to either be completely hilarious, or abjectly awful.

So, yesterday was my birthday, and for the first time since I was a kid, we actually had kind of a party. My grandparents were still in town from my sister's wedding, and my sister and her new husband were there, and so was amiboshi, whose presence I think was the major cause. I really appreciated it; maybe I'm not as big of a people-avoiding hermit as I thought I was.

Also there was ice cream cake.

Speaking of my sister's wedding, it was pretty zany. It was supposed to be an outdoor, sunset ceremony, but a sudden thunderstorm put an end to that. Still, it was pretty good as weddings go, though considering the last one I went to was a shotgun last-minute wedding, my impressions might be a little skewed.

Also, in a weaksauce note, it looks like Robert Jordan died this weekend. It may cost me my book nerd cred to say this, but The Wheel of Time is pretty much my favourite fantasy series by a modern author, even though Path of Daggers kind of sucked, and I guess it's never going to get finished (barring zombie author intervention), so in the grand tradition of anonymous internet eulogies, I'd like to thank the late Mr. Jordan for everything he did, and I hope he rests in peace and that his family is well.

Back to annoying people full time in a little over a week!

So last night I logged out earlier than I might've otherwise, because there was a thunderstorm brewing... Which turned out to be a wise decision, as the power completely cut out a few minutes later, leaving me in an otherwise completely empty house (as there's nobody else here for the rest of the week), with no power.

While thunder and lightning and incredibly driving rain continued outside until, uh... Probably a combination of my being too lazy and my life being boring even to me. :(

So what's actually afoot over here? Well, we just got a satellite dish. Actually it's my sister's, but she doesn't want it anymore... But there's still time left on her contract with Bell, so now it's ours. It's hooked up to the big screen downstairs with surround sound, so my dad is understandably a happy camper... Even if he did completely wreck his left shoulder. It's been separated, and now he might have to go into surgery, after he tried to hide it from everyone that his shoulder was damaged for about a week... Now he can barely even move his arm.

And of course, Mother's day... But my mom went up to Omimi with my sister, because of the latter's new twelve hour shift schedule. So my mom's taking care of my sister's animals (of which she has two, a cat and a tiny tiny dog) until my sister's properly settled in. Who knows when that will be.

And that's pretty much everything that's going on with me right now.
Okay, I totally haven't updated this in forever.

So what's going on with me? Not much. (Warning: Stream of consciousness ahead!)

1. I (finally) got Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince yesterday. And finished it in one day. I liked it! But I'll keep my other thoughts to myself... For now.

2. I basically had the entire house to myself for a week, which was actually really great. It turns out I can actually be responsible when I don't have anybody else around to pick up the slack for me. Then my aunt came back, and now I am SO LAZY again.

3. I have to put off any returns to school until January at the earliest, thanks to a variety of concerns (the most central of which being 'money') which has me kind of blah about things. Not that I have any significant goals beyond going back to school, but there you go.

4. One of my cousins got married, as many people who speak with me regularly know, because he got his girlfriend pregnant! She's kind of a dog, too, but I guess he's stuck now. I'm sure she's a very nice person, her complete breakdown at the reception as she realised she'd thrown her entire life away aside. Also, her family looks like the sort of people who might've actually threatened him with a literal shotgun had he not chosen to 'do the right thing'. Another one of my cousins is now living with a guy who plays for the Tiger-Cats. He's actually a nice guy.

5. feralknights keeps getting me to read new manga series, that fucker. Black Cat is a pretty kickass manga, though. amiboshi got me to watch an anime called Harukanaru Toki no Naka de, which is sort of like FY, except not. I like it. But until new episodes come out, all I can watch are FMP! and Gundam SEED Destiny.

6. Speaking of which, I totally need a Shinn Asuka icon. A cool one. With... Something. I dunno. STOP JUDGING ME!

7. I need to RP more.

Anyway, I think that's a decent enough summation of things.

Hey, at least it wasn't another damn meme.

Fandom meme. Blah bah blah, all the cool kids are doing it.

01. Bleach (Almost a trick question, but basically there's two.)
1 of 2 guessed.
02. Naruto: Nara Shikamaru (as guessed by kotoludi)
He's lazy as shit, and he's smarter than you. I can't help but be fascinated by the way a one-note joke character became one of the more interesting characters in the entire series. Plus, not being Neji gives anyone big points. :(
03. Resident Evil: Leon S. Kennedy (as guessed by everybody)
Yeah, this one was far too easy; everybody knows I like Leon. The simple fact of the matter is that RE2 was the first game of the series that I was exposed to, and Boy Next Door Nice Guy + Big Fucking Guns was too powerful of a combination to resist. Also, I dig flawed heroes.
04. Tenjou Tenge (Three favourites, JUST TO MAKE IT TOUGH.)
2 of 3 guessed
05. Mobile Suit Gundam: Amuro Rei (as guessed by amiboshi)
The archetype for dysfunctional teenaged anime heroes. Life gives him a big robot and then proceeds to kick him in the nuts constantly for thirteen years. And then he dies saving a planet full of ingrates! What's not to like?
06. Farscape: John Crichton (as guessed, if vaguely, by lainiest)
Possibly the best 'fish out of water' in the history of anything ever. The way Crichton deals and adapts to being completely out of his element is really one of my favourite character arcs ever... Plus, he comes up with the best stupid plans of all time. I mean, he ran around with a nuke strapped to his chest!
07. Harry Potter: Ron Weasley (as guessed by amiboshi and mokushiroku)
Some people guessed Lupin, who's definitely up there, but I've always liked Ron best. He's a great example of a character who is a mix of very strong good traits, and very strong bad traits, and is all around awesome. Too bad he got the shaft in Order of the Phoenix.
08. Fushigi Yuugi: Tasuki (as guessed by amiboshi)
When I first watched FY, I always had trouble settling on a character I liked best. Tamahome started out awesome, but unfortunately his awesomeness didn't survive the love story. It was actually the second time I watched the series that I really started to like Tasuki, which I think came from my 'angry characters' phase. Notice the running theme of liking characters who mingle being awesome with being kinda dumbasses.
09. Firefly (Two favourites, since the first is easy.)
1 of 2 guessed
10. Legend of Galactic Heroes (obscure!)
11. Fire Emblem
12. Stargate SG-1 (It's not Jack, sry.)
13. The Wheel of Time: Rand al'Thor and Mat Cauthon (as guessed by mokushiroku)
I think it's physically impossible not to like Mat after The Dragon Reborn, in which he first becomes the super pimpmasta he's remained for the rest of the series, instead of the dingus of the first two books. Rand might need a smack upside the head, but his character arc is certainly an interesting one... He's certainly a much more interesting depiction of a messiah figure than, say, Dune's personality-free Paul 'The Cipher' Muad'dib. See also: My love of characters who are both awesome and dumbasses.
14. The King of Fighters: Sie Kensou (as guessed by amiboshi)
Kyo might be awesome, but Kensou will forever be my favourite. In fact, I intentionally chose to list this fandom in the hopes it would prove to be as confounding as it did! But, it's Kensou 4-eva, both for the way he plays in the games and for the way the character is depicted. Poor, gluttonous, lazy, luckless Kensou.
15. Please Save My Earth: Ogura Jinpachi (as guessed by mokushiroku, lainiest AND amiboshi)
In his past life, he was kind of a douche, but I've always liked Jinpachi best out of the reincarnated aliens of PSME. He also fits into my awesome+dumbass equation, but it's the earnest think-with-his-heart-and-possibly-his-pecker-but-not-with-his-head behaviour that really sold me on the character. It's too bad the OAV left out his best moment at Tokyo Tower. (p.s.: Shion/Rin sux)

Since it was brought up, Get Backers wasn't on my list because I wanted to avoid using too many fandoms that would be too easy to guess. Anyone who knows I like GB knows Ban is my favourite. I avoided Shadow Hearts on the list for the same reason. Or X. Or, hell, Persona 2.
Zany weekend, today moreso than Friday.

Friday, I was just plain beat, all day; when I got home from my usual Friday 'hanging out and playing KOF' antics, I fell asleep not long after, leaving my computer on and various things connected until I woke up just long enough to shut them down in a stupor. Then I slept and slept, waking up just in time to get... A PHONE CALL.

It turned out my friend Mike, who I hadn't seen since last August - and before that, since his wedding a few months previously - was in town for Saturday! Luckily, I'd woken up in time to find out, so I rushed across town and a bunch of us all hung around and wandered about Westdale Village much as we did in our days of being teenaged hooligans. I learned many important things, like the fact that what amounts to a one-room apartment in Toronto can cost you $800 a month.

I really, really never want to live in Toronto.

Also, I lose at talking about myself or relating anecdotes interestingly. So that's the end of my story.

Back home in Hamilton. I landed at Toronto at 1:00 PM but as of this writing, my ear still hasn't popped, so it feels like it's full of water and in concert with having barely slept, it's DRIVING ME INSANE.

Like, wanting to stab people in the face very short temper insane.

That aside, it's good to be home, though I wish I wasn't so far away from certain people.

PS: Boobies.

So yeah, as of 4:00 AM EST, I'll be gone for three weeks, heading off to Calgary to visit pyreflies, and presumably other people who are there. It's possible I may starve to death, from what I've been hearing, but I'll... Try to be strong.

As a consequence of this, I will understandably be scarce; I may be online whilst pyreflies is at work, but even that would be intermittent at best, so don't count on my appearance before the 27th or so. So, anybody I don't talk to tonight, while I am gone you must be cool, and also be excellent to each other.

Also, I got a totally sweet Masataka icon from mokushiroku. It is awesome. You will be in awe.

And stuff.
